2019 Silverado 1500: An Upgraded Bed

When asked what sets the pickup truck apart from an SUV or any other high-powered vehicle, drivers would probably say the bed. The added functionality of a cargo box makes it easier to haul gear and tools.

When the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 arrives at the end of 2018, it will be bolstered by all-new bed construction.

No matter which bed length you choose, you can expect a capacity that will surpass most competitors. Even their "short" option has 63 cubic feet of cargo volume.

The body of the bed has been updated with a higher-grade steel that can handle more pressure and weight. This ends at the new CornerStep bumper, which will have larger footwells for your work boots.

Finally, the tie downs on the 2019 Silverado 1500 bed are now rated for up to 500 pounds. With 12 of them, you should be able to easily secure your gear.

Choosing the Right Engine Option

With six different engine options to choose from the 2019 Silverado 1500 allows you to really tailor the truck's performance to your needs. For instance, some of us need extra torque for extra towing. Others may just want something smaller and peppier.

If you fall into the latter category, then you'll appreciate the 2.7L turbo V6 engine. It produces 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque, so it has a definite kick. Yet it also has active fuel management and auto stop/start technology, both of which can help to reduce fuel consumption.

Drivers who want a pure-power option should go with the 6.2L V8 engine. This one generates 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, making it a brawny choice for any towing excursion you might have planned.

Trailering Technologies

Speaking of towing, it takes more than muscle to get the job done. That's why the 2019 Silverado 1500 will offer so many great towing technologies.

Among these available options, you'll find features such as Hitch Guidance with Hitch View. Utilizing your rear camera, this will actually help you guide your trailer to the hitch receiver for easy connection.

You'll also have a new Trailering App, which was designed to make each haul safer and smoother. It starts off with a virtual pre-departure checklist, which offers an illustrated guide on connecting your trailer.

Other features with this available app include trailer tire pressure monitoring, a theft alert, and trailer light tests.
